2003 - "Moses" in Dogville - Lars von Trier
Highly commended - "Bruno" in The Triplets of Belleville - Sylvain Chomet
It’s not only the recipients whose lives are changed by the recognition. It seems to inspire childish glee - and why not? The following year the award went surreal and to Dogville and the chalk out ine whose bark heralds the arrival of Grace, played by Nicole Kidman, into town. A packed press conference watched Lars Von Trier’s producer, the impressively blonde Vibeke Windelov strap on the collar. She told the crowd that the maverick director was thrilled by the award. "He is overjoyed at the news" she said.
The trophy collar went straight back to Copenhagen and straight onto the wall alongside all the other gongs in the prizewinning career of the Dogma director.
