Lordy, this dog is truly going global in media terms. The wonderful Uggie has been this fine day been honoured with a profile in the esteemed Sunday Times. This item is the traditional preserve of biped prestige newsmakers like Meryl Streep or Robbie Williams or Angela Merkel. But – lo- today the pages covered the groundbreaking impact of the fabulous Uggie.
The article track his balloning impact on this year’s award season. The pressure for a dog gong is mounting. But the piece makes the point that Uggie has, thankfully, scooped an award. And I quote
“He already holds a cinematic award that any self respecting dog would covet. Last year he was given the canine equivalent of the Cannes Film Festival’s top prize, the Palme d’Or.
Uggie won the Palm Dog.”
