An entire cast rewarded

For the first time in 2004, the Palm Dog was awarded to an entire canine cast. The dogs appearing in Jonathan Nossiter's Mondovino were recognised by the jury for their collective performance. This Franco-American documentary highlights the world of wine by following succession sagas across three continents. It also paints an affectionate portrait of the famous wine critic Robert Parker, featuring his loyal companion Hoover, along with other remarkable dogs inhabiting the vineyards.

The acrobat dog from Emir Kusturica’s film Life is a Miracle was also honoured, receiving the Grand Jury Prize.

Humans won over

The announcement of the Palm Dog 2004 winners delighted the recipients. “We’ve never known a greater reward for a man or a dog,” exclaimed Jonathan Nossiter as he accepted the iconic collar on behalf of his canine stars.

The trophy also provoked envy among the audience, notably actress Sean Young, who didn’t hesitate to try on the coveted collar herself!
