An undisputed winner
Anyone who has seen Michel Hazanavicius' The Artist will remember Jack, the energetic Jack Russell who stole the show from Jean Dujardin with his incredible performance. Already a favourite long before the Cannes Film Festival, it came as no surprise that Uggie, the canine actor, won the title of undisputed champion of the Palm Dog 2011. A well-deserved accolade for this former stray who became a confirmed actor thanks to his master trainer, Omar von Muller!
The 2011 edition also highlighted another talented canine family, awarding the Jury Grand Prize to Laïka for her role in Aki Kaurismäki’s film Le Havre. Laïka is, in fact, closely related to Tähti, the Palm Dog 2002 winner!

The Palm Dog goes global
Announced at an international press conference a month before the festival, Uggie’s victory helped elevate the Palm Dog to a new level. The 2011 edition captured worldwide attention.
Actress Tilda Swinton also contributed to this phenomenon by receiving that year the Palm Dog Poster Girl award. Truly a remarkable year in every way!
