A dog that brings people together

Baby Boy, the blind Poodle from Behind the Candelabra by Steven Soderbergh, wins the renowned Palm Dog. In the film, the dog has eye problems that help bring together a young animal caretaker (Matt Damon) and an eccentric pianist (Michael Douglas).

“The poodle brought these boys together, he’s responsible for a lot of things”, said Toby Rose, founder of the event. To honour the winner while reflecting the film’s flamboyance, a glittery retro collar was specially designed.

“Dogs are always in fashion”

During this 13th edition, the Palm Dog jury also awarded a special prize to the well-groomed dogs appearing in The Bling Ring, a film directed by Sofia Coppola.

According to Toby Rose, “the film delivers a message close to the Palm Dog’s heart: dogs are always in fashion, but never mere accessories”.
