Lucky, a Maltipoo (Maltese crossed with Poodle), won the Palm Dog 2015 for his role in Arabian Nights – Volume 2, The Desolate One by Miguel Gomes. The canine actor playing Dixie delivered a memorable performance in one of the many scenes of this feature film.

For the first time since the event launched in 2001, the Madrid-based winner accepted the award via Skype, accompanied by his human colleagues. The audience gathered in Cannes for the ceremony shared their immense joy and dedicated thunderous applause to the dog!

A new award came to life

As for the Jury Grand Prize, it was awarded to Bob, the four-legged actor in The Lobster. This film tells the story of a man transformed into a dog.

Another remarkable work of that year? Je suis un soldat (Laurent Larivière). The cinematic work around the animal shelter at the heart of the plot led to the creation of the Palm Dog Manitarian, celebrating the strong bonds between humans and dogs.
