The jury stunned by various canine performances

At the prestigious ceremony held at the Members’ Club in Cannes, Sayuri, who played Brandy in Quentin Tarantino’s film Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, received the coveted collar. The jury was joined by Sally Philipps from the Bridget Jones film series, as well as the famous impersonator Ronni Ancona.

Applause and cheers were also given to two other winners. Aasha and the Street Dogs by Frederik Du Chau and Little Joe by Jessica Hausner received the Jury Grand Prize. One captured the jury’s heart by depicting street dogs in Mumbai; the other highlighted man’s best friend’s sixth sense.

Technological advances serving animal welfare

In addition to being at the forefront of technology, Google values the place of dogs in the workplace. To reward its good deeds towards our four-legged companions – notably by creating dog-friendly work environments – the web giant was awarded the Palm Dog Manitarian.

Finally, the Palm Dog jury recognised the RSPCA for its mini-documentary The Unadoptables, funded by Huawei. The organisation received the Underdog Award for helping shelter animals find a forever home using technological advances.
