The Palm Dog, ‘THE award to win’
After the lockdowns linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Palm Dog made its grand return to the Croisette. The stylish and convivial event was hosted at the JW Marriott.
Tilda Swinton made a striking appearance at this 2021 Palm Dog held during the Cannes Film Festival. Rosy, Dora and Snowbear, the dogs accompanying her in the film The Souvenir Part II, received the prestigious award for their remarkable performance. According to the British actress, who had coveted the title for several years, “this is THE award to win”.

Two winners for the Jury Grand Prize
Other canine representatives also stood out at this post-Covid edition. Sean Baker was notably awarded the Jury Grand Prize. To celebrate this recognition, the director came accompanied by Bunsen, his “emotional support dog”, who “goes everywhere with him”. The other winner was none other than Panda, the Sheepdog starring in Valdimar Jóhannsson’s feature film Lamb.
Furthermore, Mastercard received the Palm Dog Manitarian for highlighting the role of dogs during the Covid-19 pandemic in its marketing campaign. A fitting nod to the important place our loyal four-legged companions hold in our daily lives!
