The dog, man’s best friend and a full-fledged family member

A new film by Hlynur Pálmason has made a strong impression on our jury. This time, it is Panda, the Icelandic Sheepdog with a black and white coat appearing in The Love That Remains, who scooped the Palm Dog. The furry companion plays the role of a loyal family pet whose parents are going through a separation.

On the occasion of this 25th edition, held at La Plage du Festival, the winner received its trophy in the form of a collar, a bandana and a red lead, crafted by the French pet accessories brand Oria & Guizmo.

A moving tribute to a canine actress now departed

The Icelandic Sheepdog was not the only animal honoured. Indeed, the Jury Grand Prize was awarded to Pipa and Lupita, for their remarkable performance in Oliver Laxe’s Sirât. As the first furry actress sadly passed away shortly after the filming ended, a heartfelt posthumous tribute was paid to her during the ceremony.

The Mutt Moment Award, meanwhile, went to Pillion, a film by Harry Lighton. It tells the story of a meeting between a shy young man and the charismatic leader of a biker gang, who introduces him to a relationship of domination.
