PALM DOGMANITARIAN AWARD 2017

LESLIE CARON AND TCHI TCHI WIN PALM DOGMANITARIAN AWARD AT CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2017

Leslie Caron, the iconic Franco-American actress, has been presented with the Palm Dogmanitarian Award 2017 which celebrates the fellowship between canines and humans.

Leslie, 85, and her 17-year-old shih-tzu dog Tchi Tchi received the award in recognition of their roles in the ITV drama The Durrells.

"We are thrilled," said Leslie, who starred in 45 films between 1951 and 2003 including An American in Paris and Gigi.

"It was wonderful to have Tchi Tchi at my side for the filming of the Durrells and I certainly believe he brought added value.

"The Palm DogManitarian Award recognises the bond which connects canines and humans. That bond is there between Tchi Tchi and myself and it is especially wonderful to receive this prize at the 70th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival as part of the Palm Dog Awards.

"Dogs deserve their place on the awards circuit and I am truly proud to share this award with Tchi Tchi.
